At ModPop, our mission is to empower emerging fashion designers, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, by providing accessible retail space and comprehensive business support, helping them turn their creative talent into sustainable, full-time careers.

Laura has a double BA in Political Science and French from Wellesley College and a JD from Seattle University School of Law. When she's not working, Laura enjoys going to the gym and supporting local sports teams (specifically the Phoenix Mercury) with her husband, Ryan. Laura and Ryan live in Phoenix and enjoy spending time in the sun every day.

Laura's background

Laura shared the idea of leasing retail space and working with emerging designers in the Phoenix area to help them grow their brands, create new lines of clothing and accessories, and promote their work with notable individuals in the Phoenix fashion scene.

In particular, Angela Johnson from FABRIC Tempe was an early supporter of ModPop and its mission; Angela connected Laura with the City of Phoenix who helped Laura find the beautiful Haustgen House in Heritage Square to get ModPop off the ground.

The vision

meet the owner

Laura Brindley Sylvester founded ModPop in Fall 2025 after moving from Seattle to Phoenix with her husband. After four years in real estate and employment law, she stepped away from litigation and redirected that experience into building something more community-driven. What started as a personal shift toward fashion and self-expression quickly turned into something bigger. Once in Phoenix, Laura recognized both the energy of the local fashion scene and the lack of accessible retail space for emerging designers. ModPop was created to bridge that gap, giving independent designers a place to be seen, supported, and taken seriously.

Rich Luxury Pain is about honoring the pain behind every success. Every win, every level up, every milestone came with sacrifice, pressure, and hard moments. The brand is a reminder that nothing valuable comes easy; so, if the outcome is rich and luxurious, the journey had to be painful. You don’t hide that… you wear it.
